Inclusion Strategy Statement

At Barcroft Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every child is seen, valued, included and supported to thrive. We believe that inclusion is about recognising and celebrating individual differences while removing barriers so that every pupil can access, participate in and succeed in school life.

Our inclusive approach is rooted in our Barcroft values and the belief that fair does not always mean the same. We recognise that every child has different strengths, needs, experiences and circumstances, and we adapt our provision to ensure that all pupils are given the right support and opportunities to reach their potential.

Our Inclusion Strategy focuses on:

Removing barriers to learning and participation for all pupils.
Providing high-quality, inclusive teaching and appropriate adaptations within the classroom.
Identifying needs early and providing targeted support and intervention where required.
Supporting pupils with SEND, EAL and other additional or vulnerable needs to fully participate in school life.
Promoting equality, diversity and belonging, ensuring that every child feels safe, respected and valued.
Listening to and acting upon pupil and parent/carer voice.
Working closely with families, the Lighthouse Multi Academy Trust and external agencies to provide coordinated support.
Developing staff knowledge and confidence so that colleagues can respond effectively to a wide range of needs.
Ensuring that our curriculum, environment and wider opportunities are accessible and representative of our diverse community.

At Barcroft, inclusion is the responsibility of everyone. We work together to create a school where children feel that they belong, are understood and can achieve, regardless of their individual needs, background or circumstances.

Our approach reflects the Lighthouse Multi Academy Trust commitment to creating environments where children are involved, valued, welcomed and safe, while celebrating both the similarities and differences within our school community.

We continually review our provision, use evidence and pupil outcomes to identify areas for development, and work with families and professionals to ensure our inclusive practice continues to improve.

The Inclusion Strategy Statement will be published on our website by 31st December 2026 in line with the DfE requirements.
