Summer Term - First half hightlights
This half term, we have lots of exciting learning planned! Through much-loved stories such as Jack and the Beanstalk and The Very Hungry Caterpillar, children will develop their speaking, reading, and writing skills by retelling stories, describing events, and creating their own pieces of writing. This includes writing a special letter to invite the tiger to tea!
Our learning will also explore the natural world. Children will plant seeds and observe how they grow, learn about life on the farm, and discover animals and the habitats they live in. They will follow simple instructions as part of practical, hands-on activities.
Creativity will flourish as children:
- Build castles through junk modelling
- Make fruit skewers inspired by our stories
- Take part in imaginative role-play, including a classroom tea party to develop speaking and listening skills
We are also very excited to welcome a “Farm on Wheels” visit, giving the children a wonderful hands-on farm experience right at school!
Summer 2 - Final Half Term!
This half term continues to offer a wide range of fun and engaging learning opportunities.
Through stories such as Mog and the Vet, children will explore animals and how to care for pets, including matching mother and baby animals. They will also learn about people who help us by dressing up as police officers and taking part in role-play activities to understand their important roles.
Children will develop their understanding of safety by learning how to cross the road safely with a grown-up.
Our seaside topic will allow children to:
- Compare the UK seaside with seaside locations around the world using Billy’s Bucket
- Design their own ice creams
- Explore and learn about seaside features
Throughout the term, we will make the most of the warmer weather with plenty of outdoor learning, including Sports Day and fun beach-themed activities.
Here are a few important reminders:
* PE days - Monday and Wednesday - please ensure your child has their, correct and labelled, white and black PE kit and has removed any jewellery/studs beforehand.
* Homework - sent out on a Thursday, to be returned by Tuesday - ensuring homework is completed once a week with your child's name on, returned in their book bag.
* Reading books - to be returned daily or as regularly as possible and the reading diary should be signed by an adult.
* Lunch - your child can bring in their own packed lunch or they can have a free school meal. Meals should be booked via ParentPay by midnight on Sunday for the upcoming week.
* Wellies - bring in your own labelled pair to use across the school year in our water/sand features.
* 1000 Stories - the book trolley is available on a daily basis for your child to exchange a book to read at home/bedtime etc. Please ensure these books are returned!
