Autumn Term

This term we will be looking at the topic ‘Romans and Celts’. Within the Art and Design lessons, we will be exploring the work of
architect, Vitruvius. In DT, we will be constructing a Roman chariot and during our History lessons, we will be learning about Ancient Rome and how this heavily influenced Britain, as we know it today. As well as this, we will be looking at the physical and geographical features of parts of Italy in Geography.

Spring Term

This term we will be looking at the topic ‘Treasure’ and 'Hunting and Farming'. Within the Art and Design lessons, we will be creating a treasure box by manipulating clay and creating cave paintings. In DT, we will be making a functioning metal detector and a moving picture using levers. During our History lessons, we will be exploring and researching the Staffordshire treasure hoard and will also be discovering how King Richard III is related to our local area.  We will also look at how Stone Age people would hunt and gather food. As well as this, we will be looking at physical and geographical features of places, and analyse maps to learn about map symbols and grid references.  We will also be looking at how trade and farming affect the world and the people that live in it.

Summer term

This term, we will be beginning our new topic ‘Rainforests’. We had a fantastic introduction to our topic through our trip to the Botanical Gardens, let’s put that new knowledge into practice! In DT, we will be making a fruit curry, with ingredients sourced from all over the world! In Geography, we will look at the layers of the rainforest and look closer at the weird and wonderful creatures that live there. In History, we are learning about the Mayan civilisations that lived in Central America. In Art, we are looking at the works of Henri Rousseau and Georgia O’Keefe, we will be creating our own pieces inspired by these.
